Our bachelor student Jana Radakovic receives a young talent award

We are incredibly proud of our bachelor student Jana who was awarded a one of the KHMW AANMOEDIGINGSPRIJZEN. The Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities (KHMW) awarded Jana one of  67 prizes of €500 each, for the best study results in the first year of study (academic year 2022/2023) at a Dutch institution for scientific education. BIG congratulations Jana

Nanodiamonds as labels for integrated microscopy

Integrated microscopy combines electron microscopy (EM) with light microscopy. However, conventional dyes bleach during the sample preparation for EM. NV centers in diamond, however, are protected within the lattice and thus remain fluorescent. As a result one can at the same time label cells optically and investigate the membrane structure. We can learn from this were diamond particles are within cells.
